About Amy

Amy started her journey on the road to her career as an educator directly after she graduated the East Liverpool High School in 1984, by attending Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio where she obtained her BA in Elementary Education with a Minor in Learning Disabilities. She was an elementary teacher in the East Liverpool City School district for 13 years.
In the fall of 1999, Amy took her first yoga class led by Andrea Cornell, a Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor. The class introduced Amy to words & postures, proper breathing, and how to relax the body & mind. For the next 10 years Amy took many classes, seminars, & workshops, some specifically on “classroom yoga”, an area of yoga she studied at the Youngstown State University under the direction of Karres Cvetkovich & Dr. Micheline Flak. She then became certified through R.Y.E. (Research on Yoga in Education).
Embracing an opportunity to move to New York City in the fall of 2008, she found herself in a thriving yoga community. Being able to participate in many classes, clinics & events in Brooklyn, Manhattan, & NYC, Amy discovered the Open Center, a highly respected Kripalu affiliated Yoga  School. There she completed a 9-month Prana Yoga Teacher-Training course under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Migdow, & his assistant Robyn "Priti" Ross. Amy is now a Certified Prana Yoga Instructor registered through the Yoga Alliance as well as a registered Kripalu Yoga Teacher through the Kripalu Teacher Training Association in Lenox, MA. Using her new accreditation, Amy began part-time and substitute teaching at the Brooklyn Dodge YMCA.
Always wanting to share her love and interest in yoga with East Liverpool & the surrounding communities, Amy returned to East Liverpool in the fall of 2010 and opened the "Always Mindful Yoga" studio in March 2011.
She trained in the healing arts of Ayurveda (the sister science to yoga, involving diet and lifestyle), under the guidance of Dr. Lina Thakar at the Ayurveda Integrative Wellness Institute in Robinson Township, PA. Amy provided private dosha balancing yoga classes & healing bodywork treatments at the center.
Ever expanding her horizons, Amy has become a Pilates instructor, certified in Reformer Level 1 Training through PH1 Pilates in Pittsburgh, PA.
Amy has also been certified in the Usui/Tibetan System of Reiki healing, the practice of using healing energies by the practitioner's "laying of hands" on or near the recipient, reducing stress and tension, and improving harmony within the mind & body.
Amy is on her own journey of health and wellness and is passionate about sharing all the jewels that have proven useful for her. Amy shares the most leading, current, science based, research proven, age old practices for alternative healing and over-all well-being.
Namaste.

What is?

What is Yoga?
Yoga is a means of balancing and harmonizing the body, mind and emotions. At Always Mindful Yoga we will aim to use stretches, postures, breathing and sounds to bring the different bodily functions into perfect coordination so that they work for the good of the whole body and mind. Through the practice of yoga you will develop self- awareness, self-acceptance, and self-love. Yoga is not about being flexible but about being in the present moment so that you can pause, feel, observe and connect within.
